OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Jan. 03 (YPA) – The Israeli website Calcalist revealed that a security consulting firm admitted to offering disguised bribes in the form of gifts to the head of Botswana’s intelligence service in exchange for winning millions of dollars in security contracts.
According to the report, Degania Systems will be convicted on charges related to falsifying its official records and money laundering, after admitting to giving gifts worth approximately $18,800 to prior intelligence chief Isaac Hussey, who wielded decisive influence in awarding security contracts.
The data showed that the company used its employees’ personal credit cards to purchase the gifts, then reimbursed the amounts later, recording them in its accounting as operating expenses, in what was considered an organized forgery and money laundering operation.
In addition, the data indicates that about 60% of the company’s business activity was directly linked to Botswana’s intelligence service, as part of efforts to penetrate the African market through corruption and bribery disguised as security consulting.
