ISLAMABAD, Aug. 23 (YPA) – A number of cities in Pakistan, Britain, and Turkey have witnessed protests against companies that activists accuse of having ties to Israel or of profiting from investments in the arms industry.
In Islamabad, activists from the Qayyum and Hayat movement targeted a KFC branch in the E-11 district with posters reading “Your meal funds this” alongside images of destruction in Gaza.
In Aberdeen, England, activists held a vigil outside Barclays Bank to protest its investments in arms companies, particularly its stake in Palantir, demanding a boycott of the bank and the withdrawal of these investments.
In Üsküdar, Istanbul, the daily vigil outside a McDonald’s branch entered its 321st day, demanding a boycott of the company after its branches in Israel provided free meals to Israeli forces after October 7, 2023
These moves seek to expand boycott campaigns to include brands and financial institutions that activists accuse of supporting the occupation.
