ABYAN, Dec. 22 (YPA) – One soldier was killed and four others were injured on Monday when an unidentified drone targeted a military site belonging to the UAE-backed “Security Belt” forces in Yemen’s southern province of Abyan.
Local sources reported that the strike hit a gathering of troops at the “Central Zone Camp” in the Al-Faydh area, east of the Lawdar district.
According to the sources, the drone continued to hover over the district and surrounding areas following the attack, while the identity of the party responsible for the strike remains unknown.
This incident follows a surge in attacks targeting UAE-backed factions since early December. Similar aerial strikes and IED attacks have recently been reported in Hadramout and Shabwa provinces, highlighting a period of increased security instability in the region.
