Iraqi Islamic Resistance postpones response to Saudi-US strikes

BAGHDAD, Aug. 07 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced on Friday that it has postponed its planned response to a Saudi-U.S. attack on Iraq last week.

In a statement, the resistance said the decision was made in response to an appeal by Abu Hassan Al-Amiri and in consideration of the positions taken by several political leaders.

The statement stressed that the blood of those killed and wounded is not a bargaining chip in political negotiations, urging Iraqi officials to protect the country’s sovereignty.

It also warned that the United States and its regional allies should not interpret the delay as a retreat, saying its response remains forthcoming and that the sacrifices of its members would continue to drive its actions.

The statement referred to an incident on July 29, which resulted in casualties, and recalled that the group had previously granted Iraqi authorities a deadline before taking action while citing security considerations related to the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

It added that its response to the United States will come inevitably and could also target what it described as its tools in Saudi Arabia if circumstances require.
