Armed clashes erupt in southern Syria between “National Guard”, Transitional Gov’t forces

SYRIA, Dec. 04 (YPA) – Violent armed confrontations erupted this evening, Thursday, between elements of the “National Guard” and transitional government forces in the Assweida countryside in Southern Syria, marking a new escalation of tension in the region.

The fighting concentrated on the Al-Majdal-Al-Mazra’a axis in the western countryside, involving the use of heavy weapons and focused fire.

There are no confirmed reports yet regarding casualties or human losses resulting from the confrontations.

Media sources reported movements of limited reinforcements being brought to the lines of contact.

This development follows an incident earlier this week where the Al-Naql area in the Assweida countryside was subjected to heavy machine-gun fire by transitional government forces.
