Israeli occupying entity demands al-Shara to cede Golan Heights for normalization

OCCUPIED QUDS, June 28 (YPA) – Israeli occupation entity’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stressed that any potential normalization agreement with the next Syrian government must include full recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, considering it a non-negotiable prerequisite.

This comes amid reports of upcoming US-brokered peace negotiations between Syria and the Israeli entity.

In an interview with the Hebrew channel i24NEWS, Sa’ar indicated that this recognition is a necessary element for reaching an agreement with Ahmed al-Sharaa, head of the transitional phase in Syria. He added that maintaining Israeli control over the Golan Heights within the framework of any peace agreement will enhance security and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Hebrew media sources, citing a knowledgeable Syrian figure, reported that there is a serious move toward signing a peace agreement before the end of the year, under the direct sponsorship of US President Donald Trump.

The agreement includes a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from areas they entered after December 8, including the Mount Hermon summit area.

For his part, Ahmed al-Sharaa previously spoke of indirect negotiations taking place between the two sides, mediated by international mediation, aimed at easing tensions and building confidence as a first step.
