“Women’s revolution” in Aden denounces starvation policy, lack of services
ADEN, May 16 (YPA) – Aden city, southern Yemen, has been witnessing a surge in women’s activism, reflecting growing popular anger over the starvation policy, the deterioration of basic services, and the collapse of living standards.
This movement comes to emphasize the human rights and humanitarian demands for a decent life.
Hundreds of women gathered on Friday at the parade square in the Khormaksar area, in the center of Aden, in an exceptional scene reflecting the pain endured by citizens in Aden and the southern provinces under the control of the Saudi-led coalition-allied government.
This protest was held to express discontent with the rampant corruption and negligence that has deepened the suffering of the population and burdened them.
Participants in the demonstration called for improved basic services, particularly electricity and water, as well as an end to the economic collapse that has had a catastrophic impact on the lives of thousands of families and led to the collapse of the national currency, making it nearly impossible to obtain basic necessities.
The participants also expressed their rejection of policies that have ignored the suffering of the city’s residents for years, carrying banners expressing their pent-up anger.
The protests highlighted the difficult conditions facing the people of Aden and the south amid the sweltering summer heat, the constant darkness, and the thirst and hunger that consume them daily.
