GAZA, May 08 (YPA) – The Civil Defense in Gaza has reported that 75% of its vehicles are out of service due to a lack of diesel.
“Seventy-five percent of our vehicles have stopped operating due to a lack of diesel fuel,” the agency’s spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP, adding that its first responders were also facing a “severe shortage of electric generators and oxygen devices”
The Civil Defense held the Israeli occupation responsible for the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, citing the ongoing war and continued blockade.
At the end of April, the Civil Defense announced that fuel supplies for firefighting, rescue, and ambulance vehicles in the southern governorates had run out, resulting in the shutdown of eight out of twelve vehicles.
The Civil Defense called on the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and international organizations to take immediate action to open the Gaza crossings, allow fuel deliveries, and support humanitarian institutions and emergency services.
