Militants break into important prison in Aden

ADEN, Nov. 26 (YPA) – Armed men belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions stormed Bir Ahmed Prison in the southern Yemeni city of Aden on Tuesday.

Sources familiar with the matter said that Mohsen Al-Wali, who is the commander of the STC-affiliated Security Belt factions, brok into the prison ‘Bir Ahmed’ and appointed a new director for the prison instead of “Ghashan Al-Aqrabi.”

The sources explained that Al-Wali imposed one of his close associates, named “Timur Jawad,” to manage the prison that hundreds of abductees and forcibly disappeared people have been held since 2016.

The storm of the prison sparked resentment among members of other Emirati-funded factions, amid accusations that the faction leaders are about to carry out widespread liquidations against a number of detainees inside the prison.
