UN rapporteur denounces Germany’s defense of Israeli occupation’s bombing of displacement sites in Gaza

NEW YORK, Oct. 16 (YPA) – The UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese, on Tuesday denounced German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock’s defense of Israel’s bombing of Palestinian civilian displacement sites in Gaza.

Albanese warned of the legal repercussions of supporting a state that commits international crimes.

This came in a post by the rapporteur on the “X” platform, in which she responded to the statements of the German Foreign Minister, which legitimize the Israeli attacks targeting places where Palestinian civilians are taking refuge.

The UN rapporteur expressed concern about Germany’s position on Israel and Palestine and its “serious consequences.”

“Minister Baerbock should be called upon to provide evidence regarding the issues she is claiming, and the loss of protected status for civilian areas is a reflection of Israel’s actions in Gaza and elsewhere,” Albanese wrote in her post.

“She (Baerbock) should explain how she has legitimized massacres,” Albanese added.

“If Germany decides to side with those who commit international crimes, this is a political choice, but it also has legal consequences, and where politics has disgustingly failed, let justice prevail,” Albanese explained.
