GAZA, July 23 (YPA) – The World Health Organization reported, on Wednesday, that it is witnessing a deadly rise in malnutrition rates in the Gaza Strip, leading to the deaths of 21 children under the age of five within year of 2025.
The organization indicated that this serious deterioration in the health situation comes in light of the continued deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Strip due to the Israeli blockade, stressing that malnutrition has become a real threat to the lives of thousands of children.
This comes as a result of the starvation policy imposed by the Israeli occupation on the population of the Strip.
Previously, more than 100 relief and human rights organizations called on governments to take immediate and concrete action, most notably a permanent ceasefire and the lifting of all restrictions imposed on the flow of relief supplies into the Gaza Strip.
In a joint statement signed by 111 organizations, including Mercy Corps, the Norwegian Refugee Council, and Refugees International, the organizations warned of the risk of a “mass famine” spreading throughout the Gaza Strip, in light of the continued Israeli blockade and the prevention of the entry of humanitarian aid.
In this context, reports indicated that more than 800 Palestinians were killed in recent weeks while trying to access food supplies, noting that they were shot by occupation soldiers in shooting operations near distribution centers affiliated with the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.
