SANAA, July 23 (YPA) – Egyptian activist in the Netherlands, Anas Habib, took a new protest step by blocking the entrance to the Jordanian embassy in the Netherlands with iron locks, denouncing what he described as “Jordan’s suspicious silence” regarding the suffering of the residents of the Gaza Strip, in light of the ongoing blockade and starvation.
According to a video clip posted on social media, the Egyptian activist closed the two main gates of the embassy with metal locks, amid angry chants against the Jordanian government.
This came days after a similar protest against the Egyptian embassy in the Netherlands.
The activist said in a statement during a live broadcast that “Jordan bears a humanitarian and historical responsibility towards Gaza, but it chose to stand with the blockade.” He considered the absence of any effective Jordanian relief bridge to reflect an “implicit partnership” in the blockade imposed on more than two million Palestinians.
A few days ago, Habib locked the doors of the Egyptian embassy in protest against the Egyptian position and the continued closure of the Rafah crossing, in light of the starvation of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The activist chanted angry slogans against the embassy, accusing the Egyptian regime of being responsible for starving the residents of the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the occupation, by closing the Rafah crossing.
He called on other activists and individuals in Europe, America, and Canada to repeat what he did with other Arab embassies, to draw attention to the siege of Gaza.
Habib sprinkled flour on the embassy gate and asked the employees to collect it, just as the residents of the Gaza Strip are forced to collect flour mixed with dirt, as a result of the closure of the crossing in cooperation with the occupation.
