SANAA, Sept. 18 (YPA) – China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong, said, on Wednesday, that the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is the most important obstacle to peace in the Middle East, calling on Tel Aviv to end its illegal presence.
This came in his speech during an emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly to vote on a draft resolution submitted by Palestine calling on “Israel” to end its presence in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“We call on Israel to listen to this strong voice coming from the international community and end its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territories,” Fu said.
“Ending the occupation is not an option for Israel, but a legal obligation,” he added.
He described Palestine’s submission of the draft resolution as a “Historic moment”, stressing that China would vote in favor of the resolution.
The Chinese delegate said that ending the occupation would put an end for the historical injustice towards Palestine and laying the foundation for peace.
