Sanaa rejects decision to allow “Starlink” to provide internet services in Yemen

SANAA, Sept. 18 (YPA) – The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology in Sanaa expressed on Wednesday its condemnation and rejection of the decision of the authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to allow “Starlink” company to provide internet services in the Yemeni regions.

In a statement issued this evening, the ministry considered this measure “a blatant violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and at the same time constitutes a major threat to its national security, in addition to harming its social fabric.”

The statement said, “This behavior clearly confirms the mercenaries’ disregard for the sovereignty and independence of Yemen and their willingness to harm the security and stability of the homeland for the benefit of external forces.”

“So it was not surprising that the decision was welcomed by the Americans,” the statement added.

The statement stressed that the provision of Internet services by a foreign company in any region throughout the country constitutes a direct threat to Yemeni national security and undermines the ability to protect citizens’ privacy and data.

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology warned all citizens against dealing with this company and its services as they are illegal, holding the mercenaries (pro-coalition authorities) and those who support them fully responsible for any consequences resulting from this decision.

It confirmed that it would take all necessary measures to protect the country’s sovereignty and security and prevent any attempts to undermine its independence and stability.
