Saudi authorities accused of killing Yemeni intelligence operative in Riyadh

RIYADH, Sept. 14 (YPA) – Political and human rights sources have accused Saudi authorities of killing a Yemeni intelligence operative affiliated with them in Riyadh after he suddenly became ill following a meal.

The sources said Saudi authorities killed a Yemeni intelligence operative affiliated with them, identified as Shaeq Al-Marani, who posed as the so-called head of the Intelligence Division in Saada and held the rank of brigadier general. He reportedly died suddenly after having lunch at a hotel in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, in what the sources described as a silent assassination.

The sources added that Al-Marani’s family rejected the Saudi account that he died of a heart attack and called for an urgent and independent investigation to determine the cause of the sudden death, which occurred without any prior symptoms or known health problems.

The incident adds to a series of similar cases involving nearly five Yemeni military and security figures from southern provinces, including two traffic accidents in Riyadh since January, according to the sources.
