Hebrew media: 18 Israeli soldiers have died by suicide in 2025 so far

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, July 18 (YPA) – Israeli Occupation Army Radio has revealed unofficial data showing a sharp rise in suicide cases among Zionist soldiers in 2025, citing informed sources, as the occupation continues to withhold official figures.

According to the sources, 18 soldiers have taken their own lives since the beginning of 2025, including 15 cases in the first half of the year and three more just this month alone.

This figure represents double the number of suicides recorded during the same period in 2024, which stood at 9 cases, and also exceeds the number reported in the first half of 2023 (11 cases), prior to the escalation of the war in Gaza.

On Thursday, Israeli military spokesperson Efi Duvdevani refused to disclose official data on soldier suicides since the beginning of the year, despite media reports pointing to a sharp rise in cases linked to the ongoing war in Gaza.

According Hebrew media, the occupation army spokesperson, Brigadier General Efi Defrin, refrained from elaborating in response to a question about why the military does not publish data on soldier suicide cases since the beginning of the year.

According to him, ” Every soldier is very dear to us. We publish when it’s possible to publish – and what is possible to publish.”

According to official statistics published last November, approximately 5,200 Israeli soldiers — or 43% of those admitted to rehabilitation centers — are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The statistics projected that around 100,000 individuals will require treatment by 2030, at least half of whom are expected to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
