Meteorology warns citizens to take precautions on mountainous roads

SANAA, Aug. 03 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology renewed its warnings to citizens in the expected areas to fall rain to take precautions and not to be present in valleys and torrents.

In its expected weather bulletin, the center called on motorists to drive on the mountainous roads as a result of reduced horizontal visibility due to rainfall, low clouds and fog.

The center expected also partly cloudy to cloudy weather, with heavy thunderstorms accompanied by downward winds and hail in the provinces of Saada, Hajjah, Mahweet, Hodieda, Rayma, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, and Dhalea, in addition to Amran, Bayda, and the highlands of Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout and Mahra.

It stated that the coastal areas may be partly cloudy, relatively dusty and hot, with maximum temperatures ranging between 31 to 37 degrees Celsius, and the very strong winds around the Socotra Archipelago, reaching its maximum speed of 50 knots.

The center affirmed that scattered rains may fall on the provinces of Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, west of Jawf and Marib, with moderate, active winds.
