Thousands of protesters flock to Al-Aroud Square in Aden

ADEN, Aug. 03 (YPA) – Thousands of protesters flocked on Saturday to the city of Aden, south of Yemen, against the violations in jails that the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) is running in the south of Yemen.

The demonstration, which was held the Al-Aroud Square in Aden, demanded disclosure of the fate of the kidnapped and forcibly disappeared Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani.

Local sources said that the STC’s factions failed to close the roads leading to the parade square in the Khor-Maksar area of Aden after they deployed Emirati military vehicles on the bridge line and the Al-Rahab and Al-Aqil roundabouts to limit the continued flow of participants in the “Ashal Million” march, which was called for by the southern tribes early last July.

The sources confirmed that the gunmen prevented also cars from entering the parade grounds, coinciding with large moves by Abyan tribesmen towards the city of Aden, accompanied by military patrols from the “Abyan Axis Command loyal to Saudi Arabia.

Abyan tribes may set up sit-in tents in the middle of the parade square until the fate of the kidnapped Major Ashal and other southerners kidnapped in the STC’s prisons be revealed.
