Several officers loyal to UAE declare rebellion in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, 08 (YPA) – A number of UAE-backed officers and recruits rebelled on Wednesday against the leadership of the “Second Military Region” of the coalition, which is based in the city of Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadramout.

Sources familiar with the matter said the officers and members of the so-called “Company Protection Battalion” in the region announced their rejection of the decision to overthrow the commander of the battalion, Ahmed Omar Saleh Al-Maari, by the commander of the region called Fayez Al-Tamimi, who is loyal to the UAE.

The sources confirmed that Al-Tamimi ousted Al-Maari, who works as a member of the province’s Supreme Military Committee, and referred him to the military prosecution without revealing the reason.

They indicated that the decision caused a state of chaos and armed tension among the battalion’s members, threatening confrontations amid demands to cancel the decision in order to preserve the security and stability of the province.
