ABYAN, Oct. 04 (YPA) – Al-Qaeda organization admitted on Tuesday its responsibility for targeting the leader of the UAE-supported Southern Transitional Council (STC), Fadl Baash, with a car bomb in Abyan province, south of Yemen.
Activists loyal to the Emirates circulated a picture on social media showing “al-Qaeda’s confession” of targeting the so-called commander of the “Special Forces” appointed by the coalition-backed government, Fadl Baash, by detonating a car bomb in his convoy on Monday in the center of the city of Zinjibar, the center of Abyan.
Baash survived the assassination attempt that left 5 of his companions injured, amid accusations against Saudi Arabia of supporting terrorist elements following the assassination of the leader of the Security Belt of the STC, Abdul Latif al-Sayyid, early last August, along with a number of leaders, including a senior tribal sheikh in Mudiyah district of the same province.
