SANAA, Aug. 30 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has warned of an increase in acute malnutrition cases in the coalition -held six province in southern Yemen.
“The number of Yemenis suffering from acute malnutrition is expected to increase during June-December 2023, with Yemen remaining one of the most food-insecure countries in the world,” the UNICEF said, in a report.
The report confirmed that the most at risk of worsening acute malnutrition are concentrated in “Abyan, Shabwa, the city of Taiz, and the low-lying areas of the provinces of Dhalea, Lahj, and Hodeida.
The people of the southern provinces are living in disastrous living conditions due to the failed economic policy of the coalition-backed government, as a result of the deterioration of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies, which was reflected in the rise in food prices and the deterioration of health services.
