Al-Mortada: New round of negotiations will include release of 1,400 prisoners from both sides

SANAA, May 05 (YPA) – Head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs in Sanaa, Abd al-Qadir al-Mortada, affirmed that the upcoming round of negotiation regarding the completion of prisoner swap deal, it was agreed that the deal would include the release of 1400 from the two sides.

In a statement to “ Al-Masirah TV”,  Al-Mortada explained that if it is agreed to expand the deal, the step is welcomed by us.

Al-Mortada said: ” Still waiting for formation of committees to start visits to prisons, according to what was previously agreed upon.”

He added,” We hope that obstacles happened in previous stages by US-Saudi mercenaries will not be repeated.”

The head of the prisoners’ committee, Abdul Qader al-Murtada, stressed that the Americans have been obstructing peace throughout the past periods, and they are always in all rounds of negotiations in the prisoners’ file who obstruct any progress and seek to sow obstacles.

On the 23rd of Ramadan, 705 prisoners of the army and popular committees were released as part of the exchange process agreed upon during Jordan’s recent consultations.
