MARIB, April 29 (YPA) – The Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated al-Islah party revealed on Saturday a decision to overthrow, Sagheer Bin Aziz, a Chief of Staff, in the Saudi-led coalition-backed government.
Saif Al-Hadari, a media advisor to Ali Mohsen who is the senior leader in the Party, said on Saturday, on Face Book, that the scenes behind the decision of Rashad Al-Alimi, the head of Saudi-formed Presidential Council, to establish the Joint Operations Authority.
He considered the decision as an indirect overthrow of Sagheer bin Aziz, who is affiliated with the Popular Congress Party and allied with the Islah party.
Al-Hadari indicated that the decision aimed to withdraw Bin Aziz’s powers, who was appointed commander of joint operations and the staff, considering the last step by Al-Alimi reflected a failure to unite the rival factions.
Earlier, Al-Alimi had issued a decision to appoint a leader belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) as a commander of the Joint Operations Authority instead of Bin Aziz, in a sign that Al-Hadari considered an affirmation of assigning the tasks of the General Staff.
It was not clear whether the move was part of arrangements to appoint Bin Aziz as defense minister in the upcoming government, or a prelude to his removal from the scene.
