RIYADH, March 07 (YPA) – The Saudi authorities have arrested a Yemeni security official and placed him in one of its notorious prisons in Riyadh.
Media sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday that the arrest came after the official was summoned by the head of the so-called Riyadh-formed Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi.
The sources reported the arrested Mufti Suhail Nahayan Samoudah, a security director of Mahra province, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, has been held since last January.
“Saudi Arabia took Brigadier General Samoudah, who holds Saudi nationality, to one of its prisons, after he was summoned by Al-Alimi, without mentioning the special reasons behind the arrest,” the sources added.
The sources suggested that the arrest of Samoudah was related to the implementation of the US-Saudi interests in Mahra province.
The Saudi ambassador, Mohammed Al Jaber, one of officials who supported a decision to appoint Mufti Suhail Nahayan Samouda as director of security for Mahra, after the Saudi forces entered the port of Nishtun and took control of Al-Ghaydah airport in mid-July 2018.
