Lavrov: Washington is playing with fire over Iran and Taiwan

WORLD, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned of repercussions of Washington’s policy toward Iran and the Taiwan crisis.

During his speech to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Russian foreign minister said that Washington is “playing with fire” around Taiwan and the US sanctions are being used as a tool for blackmail, noting that Moscow is working to revive the nuclear agreement with Iran.

Lavrov said NATO’s deployment of its weapons to Russia’s borders was aimed at controlling Asian countries.

The United States and the European Union have declared an economic war against Russia, which has led to a rise in prices, he stated.

“For years, we have made security proposals in Europe, but the response has been arrogant.

Regarding to the war in Ukraine, he said: “The Kiev regime’s war on its people has left us with  the only option of a special military operation in Ukraine.” Any sovereign state will take the same actions that we have taken in Ukraine.

Lavrov stressed that the UN Security Council should be expanded to include countries from Asia and Africa.

Regarding the  America’s fraudulent policies towards countries, he said: “The efforts of the United States are not a democracy but a pure dictatorship.”
