Several people injured in armed clashes between STC factions in Aden
ADEN, July 25 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Thursday between factions affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Sheikh Othman district of central Aden, leaving several people injured.
A local source in the city reported that clashes erupted between members of “the Security Belt Forces,” led by Nasser al-Dahshali, and other gunmen affiliated with the STC factions. The clashes occurred after the gunmen began opening fire during a wedding celebration for one of their relatives in the Abd al-Qawi neighborhood.
The source indicated that verbal altercations between the two parties quickly escalated into armed clashes, resulting in injuries on both sides. He added that “the Security Belt Forces brought military reinforcements to the area and were able to control the situation, arresting two participants in the clashes after several main and side streets were closed.”
The clashes, in which light and medium weapons were used, sparked panic among the neighborhood’s residents, amid the ongoing escalation and security tension in the area.
