Sanaa welcomes Russian efforts to advance peace in Yemen

SANAA, Sept. 15 (YPA) – Deputy Foreign Minister for Expatriate Affairs in Sanaa Abdul-Wahid Abu Ras welcomed on Tuesday the efforts of Russian Ambassador to Yemen Yevgeny Kudrov to achieve peace in Yemen.

In a statement, the deputy foreign minister affirmed that Sanaa has responded positively to all efforts and initiatives aimed at achieving peace in Yemen in a manner that meets the legitimate rights of the Yemeni people and safeguards the country’s sovereignty and independence, while the Saudi regime continues to kill the Yemeni people with bombs, missiles and various types of weapons, as well as through blockade and starvation.

He reaffirmed that the Yemeni people’s demand is realistic, logical, legitimate and justified: lifting the blockade on the country, halting military buildups and ending all hostile activities. Such measures, he added, would create a suitable environment for discussions and for developing sustainable remedies and solutions.

Abu Ras concluded by saying: “As long as the Saudi regime views Yemen as a state subject to its control, domination and occupation, and acts there as it pleases while confiscating the rights and resources of its people, it remains far removed from any peaceful solutions.”
