WORLD, Jul. 27 (YPA) – Kririll Stremousov, deputy head of the Russian-backed Kherson Military-Civilian Administration, said a referendum on self-determination in the region on the issue of accession to Russia is irreversible.
“A referendum is inevitable. It will be 100% performed and no one from abroad can interfere with it. The question of joining the Russian Federation will be put to a referendum. No decision has yet been taken on the exact date of the referendum,” he added
“Today, the region is working to create a social and economic life.”
On the other hand, he noted that it would make sense to hold a referendum simultaneously in the liberated regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye.
In Zaporozhye, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the Main Council for the Administration of the region, said that citizens of the region had begun to actively return to the liberated part of the region in order to obtain Russian passports and participate in the referendum.
“The people who left when the special operation began, without knowing what would happen next, are now returning actively, even more quickly. They will also participate in the referendum.”
In addition, he said, residents of the regional center, Zaporozhye, which is still under the control of kiev authorities, are also moving significantly to the liberated part of the region.
Rogov said earlier that a referendum to determine the fate of the Zaporozhye region and its entry into Russia was scheduled for early autumn, presumably in the first half of September.
