Sanaa imposes sanctions on 64 companies violating naval blockade

SANAA, Aug. 07 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Humanitarian Coordination Center (HOCC) has imposed sanctions on 64 companies that violated the naval blockade imposed on the Israeli occupation.

In a statement on Wednesday, the HOCC explained that it had addressed the companies that own ships that violated the naval blockade since the start of the implementation of the naval siege, stating that they will be subject to penalties if they attempt to break the ban on Israeli ports.

The statement noted that, in its efforts to ensure that companies avoid the risk of being subject to sanctions, it would continue to send pre-sanction notices to companies that own vessels bound for the Israeli ports, warning them of the consequences of violating the naval blockade.

It explained that the sanctions notices were sent to 64 violating owner-operators, effectively banning their entire fleets from transiting the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea, adding that they may be vulnerable to targeting in any area reached by the Sanaa forces.

The HOCC’s statement held the companies that own the violating vessels fully responsible for the consequences of these sanctions, stressing that sanctions to be imposed on companies that violate the naval blockade, regardless of their nationality.

It affirmed its continued commitment to penalizing companies that ignore pre-sanction notices and violate the naval blockade imposed on the occupying Israeli entity, noting that these companies to bear the full consequences.
