WORLD, Jul. 21 (YPA) – Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said Wednesday that “more than 500 people” died during a 10-day heatwave in the country.
“During this heat wave, more than 500 people died because of such high temperatures, according to the statistics,” Mr. Sanchez said, referring to a public health institute estimate based on excess mortality rates.
A deadly heat wave in Western Europe has triggered intense wildfires, disrupted transportation and displaced thousands of people as the continent grapples with the impact of climate change.
