Mahra tribes fail STC plan to boycott Yemeni unity event

MAHRA, May 21 (YPA) – Mahra tribes withdrew on Saturday an anti-Yemeni unity day event was organized by the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias in the city of Al-Ghaydah, the capital of Mahra.

Local sources in the city stated that the “STC” failed to mobilize and organize the event against Yemeni unity, May 22, despite the funds provided by the UAE to organize it.

The sources emphasized that the STC forced dozens of citizens to attend the event, categorizing those who refused to attend the event as terrorist elements and promoters of hashish and drugs.

Meanwhile, the leader, backed by the UAE, Abdullah bin Afrar, spent large sums of money on some of Mahra sheikhs and tribes to boycott the event.
