SANAA, Dec. 14 (YPA) – A very powerful earthquake, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, rocked the Flores Sea in southern Indonesia, prompting tsunami alerts for nearby coastlines.
Indonesia’s Meteorological Department said it had issued a tsunami warning.
The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre estimated the magnitude of the earthquake at 7.7 degrees.
The Euro-Mediterranean Centre confirmed that the earthquake had occurred at a depth of five kilometres.
No human or material casualties have yet been reported.
