NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (YPA) – China’s envoy to the United Nations, Chen Shuo, on Tuesday said that the US military and the armies of other coalition partners should be held responsible for the human rights violations they committed in Afghanistan.
“The United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and other countries must take responsibility for the human rights violations committed by their armies in Afghanistan,” Shuo added at an emergency session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
Chinese envoy explained that “Under the banner of democracy and human rights, the United States and other nations are conducting military interventions in other sovereign nations and imposing their own model on nations with vastly different histories and cultures.”
He noted that this has brought “great suffering” to the peoples of those countries.
