PIJ: Occupation’s plans to introduce tents into southern Gaza is a mockery of international conventions

GAZA, Aug. 17 (YPA) -The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement (PIJ)  has condemned the Israeli occupation army’s plans to introduce tents into southern Gaza as a “mockery of international conventions and a disgrace to UN institutions”.

“Forcing people to flee amidst starvation, massacres, and displacement is an ongoing crime against humanity. Criminal behaviour in Gaza is inseparable from the daily crimes committed by the occupation in the occupied West Bank,” the group said in a statement.

It added that alongside ongoing settler attacks, they all had one goal “to expel Palestinians from their land”.

The group highlighted that the Israeli occupation authorities’ move to freeze the financial accounts of the Orthodox Church in Jerusalem is seen as a step toward further annexation and Judaization of the city.

It added that the move directly threatens both Islamic and Christian holy sites and religious endowments in Palestine.

The group concluded by stating that “the international community and its institutions now stand fully exposed in their failure, as they continue to issue repetitive statements while the enemy imposes new realities on the ground with unprecedented brutality.”

“International silence in the face of these crimes encourages the criminal entity (Israel) to continue its aggressive policies.”

“The living forces and free peoples of the world must raise their voices loudly in rejection of the occupation policies,” the group stressed.
