Hebrew newspaper: Coalition countries used Israeli-made weapons during 20 years against Taliban movement
SANAA, Aug. 24 (YPA) – The Hebrew newspaper “Jerusalem Post” reported that the countries of the (NATO) coalition in Afghanistan have used Israeli-made weapons during the 20-year war against the “Taliban” movement.
The Jerusalem Post indicated that “although Israeli forces were not present in that war-torn Central Asian country, many coalition countries have used Israeli systems during the 20 years of fighting against the extremist jihadist group.”
The newspaper emphasized that “many of those countries used Israeli remotely piloted aircraft “RPAs” to gather intelligence, and used Israeli-made “Spike” missiles in the fighting, in addition to using an Israeli-made “MRAP” vehicle (armored against ambushes and mines).
The newspaper revealed in its report that “the drones were one of the main Israeli weapons systems used by foreign armies in Afghanistan,” noting that “the German Air Force began operating the “Aitan” or “Heron-TP” aircraft in Afghanistan in 2010, (It is a drone manufactured by the Israeli company IAI, and in 2005 the Australian Army also began operating the Skylark 1 drone.)
In addition to the above, the Hebrew newspaper explained that “the Spike NLOS (Non Line Of Sight) missile of the Israeli company, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, was used by the British and Canadian armies in Afghanistan, and the accuracy of the missile proved its usefulness in the battles against the Taliban.” She added, “With Western forces leaving Afghanistan and the Taliban taking control of the country, the movement has also acquired advanced American weapons, including some drones, but with the Canadians, British and Germans ending their fighting several years ago, it is unlikely that the Taliban would have It got its hands on the Israeli-made systems that fought against them for so long.”
