Iran calls on Security Council to condemn US-Israeli attacks, activate Chapter VII to hold them accountable

TEHRAN, July 01 (YPA) – Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, called on the UN Security Council to condemn what he described as the illegal use of force by the United States and Israel, following recent attacks on Iranian facilities, including nuclear sites.

During an emergency session of the Council, the Iranian representative emphasized that the US attack on nuclear facilities constitutes an act of aggression and a clear violation of the UN Charter. He called for action under Chapter VII to hold the United States and Israel accountable for this aggression.

The Iranian official also criticized Washington’s use of Article 51 of the Charter to justify its military attacks, describing it as a deliberate distortion of international law that should not be accepted as a pretext for violating the sovereignty of states.

He explained that Tehran reserves its full right to defend itself, calling on the international community not to remain silent in the face of violations that pose a real threat to international peace and security.
