Schumer: Trump impeachment trial to begin on Feb. 8

SANAA, Jan. 23 (YPA) – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump will begin Feb. 8, the first time a former president will face such charges after leaving office.

“Members of the House of Representatives (in the Senate) will present the impeachment articles on Monday, January 25, at 7 p.m…. The parties will begin hearing the impeachment case on 8 February.”

On Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced that she would consider in Congress the trial of former US President Donald Trump on charges the Capitol riots in Washington.

Pelosi pledged to take action on the trial of former President Donald Trump in the Senate.

“He called on his supporters to break the law and helped them get to the Capitol and create chaos,” she added.

The US House of Representatives accuses Trump of inciting riots at the Capitol.
