Two Senators want to review cooperation with Saudi Arabia in atomic energy

SANAA, April 3 (YPA) – US Senators “Democratic Robert Menendez” and Republican ” Marco Rubio” has demanded Rick Perry United States Secretary of Energy to provide and disclose specific details of a “secret” nuclear technology export agreement with Saudi Arabia.

“Many of Saudi works and statements are very concerned to Congress, “they said in a latter.

They added that Congress is beginning to reassess relations with Saudi Arabia and that Washington should not provide information or technologies on the atomic energy of Riyadh.

Media reports indicate that since November 2017, the US secretary of Energy has allowed US companies to provide sensitive information to Saudi Arabia’s atomic energy.

The two senators asked Perry to disclose the names of the companies before April 10 and explain why the Energy’s approval to provide sensitive information to Saudi Arabia was not disclosed, and it should inform Congress of such matters.

The United States is competing with Russia, China, South Korea and France to get a deal to build nuclear reactors in Saudi Arabia.

The kingdom is expected to announce the winner of the contracts this year.

A number of Congress members have called on the US Administration to reconsider the US-Saudi relations, especially the US support for the military operation being waged by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen.
