U.S. officers participate in acts of torture in UAE-run secret prisons in Yemen

SANAA, Feb. 2 (YPA) – The US Daily Beast Newspaper published a report revealing the role of U.S. investigators in committing acts of torture alongside their Emirati counterparts in prisons in southern Yemen.

The Newspaper cited testimonies of two former detainees arrested by Emiratis, who confirmed that at least one American investigator was present while undergoing brutal torture, including beatings, electric shocks, rape and the use of fierce dogs.

They indicated that some of these investigators were wearing American uniforms, and they point in whispers to the Emirati investigator who was carrying out these torture operations.

The report quoted human rights activist Jennifer Gibson as saying that the detainees ‘ accounts underscore the importance of the questions asked about U.S. involvement in torture run by allies to Washington.

The US Central Command and the U.S. Embassy in the UAE, as well as the Central Intelligence Agency, have refused to answer questions on the issue, the report said.
