Hadramout tribes demand Saudi Arabia return recruits following 40 deaths in Jawf, Marib

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 17 (YPA) – The Seiban tribes in Hadramout Governorate have condemned Saudi Arabia for involving youth from the governorate in clashes with Sanaa forces in the deserts of Jawf and Marib, resulting in dozens of casualties by exploiting their economic hardship.

A prominent leader of the Seiban tribes, Salmeen Al-Jwaid Hassan Basloom Al-Seibani, stated that thrusting Hadramout’s youth into side battles and conflicts outside the governorate’s borders serves no interest for the people of Hadramout.

In an official statement released Wednesday, Al-Seibani held Salafi leader Fahd Salem Issa Bamomen—appointed by Saudi Arabia as commander of the so-called First Military District in Hadramout valley—fully legally and criminally responsible for the deaths of Hadramout residents in external battles serving foreign agendas.

The statement noted that the casualties among Hadramout recruits in clashes with Sanaa forces reached 40 dead, along with several others missing in the deserts of Jawf and Marib.

Al-Seibani expressed absolute rejection of the military exploitation and recruitment of Hadramout youth to fight on external fronts, leaving them vulnerable to schemes that do not align with the aspirations of the region’s people.

He demanded that Saudi-backed authorities in Hadramout immediately halt all recruitment operations aimed at deploying local recruits outside the governorate and work to return them to their areas without delay.

The statement concluded by emphasizing that Hadramout’s tribes, notables, and social figures will not remain idle regarding the drain on their youth’s lives, nor will they waive accountability for those involved in thrusting them into these conflicts.
