UN: US committed two war crimes in Iran, targeting a school and killing 150 civilians

NEW YORK, Sept. 17 (YPA) – The international fact-finding mission on Iran said it has reasonable grounds to believe that the United States was behind two strikes in February that constitute war crimes.

In a report to be presented to the Human Rights Council in Geneva, the mission explained that US forces were responsible for an attack on the Shajarat Tayyiba primary school in Minab that killed more than 150 people, including about 120 students, even though the school was clearly a civilian object and its military use had not been proven.

It stated that Washington relied on unverified intelligence about the presence of a military commander at the site and failed to verify before the strike, which amounts to more than mere negligence.

The report also accused the US of an indiscriminate strike on a sports facility in Lamerd that killed and injured 22 civilians and damaged residential buildings and a nearby school.

The report also included an accusation that Iranian authorities committed crimes against humanity during the crackdown on anti-government protests that began in late December.
