Discrepancies in Saudi financial support spark anger among leaders of “Dera Al-Watan” factions

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 17 (YPA) – A state of heightened military tension and discontent has prevailed among the commanders and recruits of the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” factions.

This follows the exclusion of their names from official rosters and the denial of identification cards from the Ministry of Defense of the Riyadh-based government (Saudi-backed government), amid reports that protests could escalate into an open military mutiny.

The underlying causes of the tension stem from financial and armaments discrimination policies, alongside vast disparities in front-line support directed against personnel from Hadramout and the southern governorates within the “Dera Al-Watan,” compared to the Salafi “Emergency” factions affiliated with the Islah Party.

Commanders within the “Dera Al-Watan” expressed serious human rights concerns regarding this omission, which deprives the recruits of their legal status and leaves their families facing an uncertain fate in the event of death or injury in front-line clashes against Sanaa forces. The lack of official registration recently resulted in denying the families of dozens of fallen southern fighters their financial and insurance entitlements.
