Two killed, one injured in tribal clashes in Yemen’s Abyan

ABYAN, July 29 (YPA) – At least two people were killed and another was injured on Wednesday following armed clashes between two tribes in the Khanfar district of southern Abyan governorate, according to local sources.

The sources reported that heavy gunfire broke out in Wadi Miklan between members of the Al-Akki and Al-Haydara Mansour tribes—both sub-clans of the Al-Muraqisha tribe. The casualties included one victim identified as Ali Hussein Al-Haddar, with preliminary reports indicating two fatalities and one person wounded.

The armed confrontation reportedly erupted following the collapse of a tribal-led truce late Tuesday evening. Mediation efforts that continued into the early hours of Wednesday failed to de-escalate the situation or secure a ceasefire, rooted in a longstanding tribal feud.

The incident comes amid growing security instability across districts in Abyan and areas under the control of Saudi-backed forces, driven by an ongoing lack of central state authority since early 2016.
