Iranian Army targets US HIMARS systems at Kuwait’s Arifjan base

TEHRAN, July 21 (YPA) – Iran’s Army Public Relations Department said the Iranian ground forces targeted US Army HIMARS rocket systems deployed at Kuwait’s Arifjan base with surface-to-surface missiles.

In a statement , the army said the operation was carried out during the 18th phase of the “Thunderbolt” campaign in retaliation for US missile strikes against targets in Iran.

The statement said the strikes would reduce the enemy’s missile capabilities by weakening its offensive and defensive layers.

The Army said administrative buildings and direction-finding antennas at Camp Arifjan were also targeted by loitering munitions.

It added that its loitering munitions also targeted the helicopter parking area at Al-Adiri Camp and a building housing US troops at Kuwait’s Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base.

Arifjan is one of the largest bases hosting US troops and the headquarters of the US Army in Southwest Asia, while Al-Adiri Camp is home to Apache, Chinook, and Black Hawk helicopters operated by US naval and air forces.

Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base also plays a key role in logistics and support for the US military in West Asia and has played a major role in the country’s air and surveillance operations, according to the statement.
