TEHRAN, July 08 (YPA) – The Iranian foreign ministry rejected Qatar’s accusations over an attack on a vessel linked to the country in the Strait of Hormuz, calling them “questionable,” “contrary to good neighborliness,” and “unacceptable.”
In a statement, the ministry confirmed that Tehran is committed to implementing “the necessary measures for the future management of the Strait of Hormuz and the provision of maritime services,” within the framework of the preliminary agreement reached with the United States on June 18.
The ministry called on Qatar, in its capacity as a mediator familiar with the details of the memorandum of understanding, as well as shipping companies, to refrain from taking any actions that contravene its provisions.
It added that commercial vessels using routes not coordinated with Iran, or tampering with ship-tracking systems, created risks and disrupted Tehran’s efforts to facilitate safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
The ministry urged countries in the region and shipping companies to refrain from any actions that contradict the provisions of the memorandum.
