Jumblatt: Framework agreement imposed by “Israel” and it does nothing to end the war

BEIRUT, July 08 (YPA) –Former Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt has dismissed the framework agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation as a unilateral imposition, not a negotiated settlement, and said it does nothing to end the war in the South.

He said “Israel” had dictated the terms to a Lebanese team, both at home and abroad, that lacked the legal and diplomatic experience to negotiate on equal footing.

“Israel imposed this agreement on a Lebanese team abroad and at home, a team with limited experience in law and diplomacy,” he added.

The framework agreement was announced by the United States and published in full, including on the State Department’s website, alongside a classified security annex. Israeli Channel 12 reported that the annex was kept out of public view at the explicit request of the Lebanese government itself.

The announcement has drawn widespread rejection inside Lebanon, with protests breaking out in several areas and political and popular figures voicing categorical opposition to the deal.
