Yemeni military commander: Israeli maritime ban extends beyond Bab al-Mandab to Red Sea and Gulf of Aden

SANAA, June 14 (YPA) –A senior military commander in the Sanaa government announced that the ban on Israeli shipping is not limited to the Bab al-Mandab Strait but extends across the entire Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. He further warned of additional escalatory measures if US and Israeli operations in the region continue.

Brigadier General Mohammed Ali al-Qadri, Commander of the Coastal Defense Forces, clarified that the current maritime blockade targeting Israeli vessels or those linked to “Israel” encompasses the full breadth of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, rather than just the strategic Bab al-Mandab waterway.

Al-Qadri indicated that the Armed Forces possess “additional pressure cards and escalatory options” that have yet to be deployed.

He emphasized that these measures would be activated gradually, in direct proportion to the level of US and Israeli escalation in the region.

The commander added that the Naval and Coastal Defense Forces are fully prepared to execute their missions to protect Yemeni sovereignty.

He stated that all available options would be utilized to serve Yemeni, Arab, and Islamic national interests and to counter “hostile movements.”

Furthermore, al-Qadri stressed that the military possesses the strategic capabilities to monitor and target Israeli movements at any point of presence, whether in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, or the Indian Ocean, as well as any presence on Yemeni islands.
