ADEN, June 09 (YPA) – A senior figure in the Southern Transitional Council (STC) on Tuesday accused Saudi Arabia of using public services as a political tool in southern and eastern Yemen, amid growing public discontent over worsening living conditions.
Fadel Al-Jaadi, a member of the STC leadership, described the situation in Aden as “catastrophic,” arguing that the city has become a symbol of collective pressure on communities aligned with the council.
In a post on X, Al-Jaadi called for keeping essential services such as electricity, water, and salary payments separate from political disputes, stressing the need to address humanitarian issues independently of ongoing political rivalries.
He urged authorities to adopt what he described as a “state-oriented approach” to managing service and economic crises, warning that continued political maneuvering could deepen public suffering and fuel further instability.
His remarks came as Aden and other southern areas have witnessed growing protests over prolonged electricity outages, delayed salaries, and deteriorating economic conditions, with demonstrators demanding urgent solutions to the worsening service crisis.
