Israeli occupation approves purchase of 2 squadrons of F-15, F-35 fighter jets

TEL AVIV, May 3 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation approved on Sunday a plan to purchase two new fighter squadrons, including a fourth squadron of F-351 stealth aircraft and a second squadron of F-15s, with the aim of strengthening the capabilities of the Israeli Air Force in the coming years.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense explained that the decision paves the way for signing deals with US government and military entities soon, as part of accelerating the armament programs agreed upon between the two sides.

The F-35s are manufactured by Lockheed Martin, while Boeing produces the F-1s, in deals worth tens of billions of shekels.

In addition to purchasing the aircraft, the deals include preparing the infrastructure to accommodate the new squadrons, and providing technical support, spare parts, and logistical services for operation and maintenance.

The decision falls within the first phase of implementing the Israeli army’s plan to develop its capabilities over the next decade, which was approved by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense with a budget estimated at approximately 350 billion shekels.
