LONDON, May 03 (YPA) – The Metropolitan Police Service has declined to open a criminal investigation into allegations against ten British nationals accused of In cooperation with the Israeli occupation forces in genocidal war and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
The decision followed the submission in April 2025 of a 240-page legal dossier to the police’s war crimes unit by representatives of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights and the Public Interest Law Centre, acting on behalf of Palestinian claimants in Gaza and the United Kingdom.
The file was reportedly supported by a letter signed by more than 70 legal and human rights experts urging authorities to act in line with international legal obligations. However, according to reporting by Novara Media, police decided not to proceed with an investigation.
Human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield described the decision as deeply concerning, arguing that it risks undermining accountability and the rule of law.
The dossier is said to include allegations relating to events in Gaza between October 2023 and May 2024, including the killing of civilians and aid workers, strikes on civilian infrastructure such as hospitals and schools, forced displacement, and damage to cultural and religious sites by the occupation forces.
Legal groups involved warned that the refusal to investigate could create an accountability gap in relation to allegations of serious international crimes involving British nationals abroad.
